I am tryng in php to copy this file:

from upload/cgAlpha/voxPRI-cgAlpha-SPO-20060514-M.mp3

to voxPRI-cgAlpha-SPO-20060514-M.mp3

Does anyone see anything illegal about the filename; it works if I change the name of the file

    OK, so explain this, if I change the name form voxPri... to voxPRI... it works.  SOmething illegal about starting a name with vox?  I have no directories named vox anything....

    I mistyped that.  I change it from voxPRI to aoxPRI (not voxPri to VoxPRI)

    It doesn't matter what I call the file as long as it doesn't start with v

    Why would starting a filename with v be rejected by Lunix?  Hmmm.....must be a php issue, I can imagine this is a Linux issue.

    Accepted Solution

    if it's php, the in the begginig of the script
    error_reporting(E_ALL); ini_set("display_errors", "on");

    Except that You may trying to remane file to it itself(if upload/cgAlpha/ is current directory) - will not work...

    it's not, it's a different directory

    it works when the file starts with an  a not with an x or a v.

    You might wanna use php's standard way of uploading files... (i.e. use a temp file, move that)

    Its sure using a temp folder to upload files and then move it to orginal dir. and the temp dir has the same file as the name you are trying to upload.

    Suggesstion: Clean up your temp dirs, reboot the server (in case there is some process which has the file locked!)
    and retry again.
