I want to set up an FTP server on my computer, but my network set up makes it really tricky.

Here's my setup:

Comcast 16/1Mb Internet
WRT54GL running DDWRT firmware as my router.
WRT54G also running DDWRT firmware as a client, connected via ethernet cable to my computer, and via the wireless network to the internet.

The 54GL's IP is The 54G's IP's are on the LAN and and on LAN. My Computer's IP is, with the gateway being

I was thinking I would run a dynamic DNS program like No-IP so that I could just give out a web address that people could connect to, but that just resolves to my main public IP.

How do I go about forwarding the requests for FTP access from the internets, to my computer?

    Accepted Solution

To forward the FTP request, you have to configure the Primary Router to forward all the FTP packets to the FTP Server located in the LAN, as the same way you may have done the WWW (or HTTP) access.

Regarding, providing name to IP resolution. You can do this with same Dynamic DNS program. They just do the name -> IP conversion, and they are not bothered if the request is for FTP or HTTP.
