Importing messages from OE into Outlook 2003 -- No success

I've tried sevreal times to IMPORT messages into OUTLOOK 2003 from Outlook Express.  I have around 10 GB worth of DBX files, which is proving to be a problem.  Each time I run the IMPORT feature from 2003, it locks up or doesn't import everything (Even after "completing successfully").

I am not in he process of EXPORTING from Outlook Express -- Maybe that will work?

Any ideas or 3rd party utilities?

Thanks.

Does it import the Inbox items / Sent Items properly?

If Yes, you may need to dump all the emails into the Inbox or the sent items accordingly. Then Import.

Did you try the EXPORT function in OE? You can export messages to Outlook. It's on the File Menu.

Greetings, jgantes !

This is another way of moving emails from Outlook Express to Outlook. So try it and let us know how it goes.

If no joy, the DBX files may be too large to import or export.  Create smaler DBX files be creating more folders and moving emails to the other folders.  Then try to import or export the DBX files.

Best wishes!

I finally ran an EXPORT in OE but I'm not sure where it dumps all the messages -- I can tryin moving items into my INBOX as well.

jgantes,

When you exported the emails, you should have noted the location. Desktop?  My Documents folder?

Did you try creating smaller DBX files and them importing them into Outlook?

I won't have the machine back for two days :-(  --- But, no, I cannot locate the messages.

Any good third party apps?

Moving emails from OE to Outlook is straight forward.  No third party application needed.

I literally brings in all the folders no problem, says the import was a success (about 20,000 messages) but most the folders are half empty or compeltely empty.  Unless one of my DBX's is corrupt, I don't understand :-/

Glad you can move your folders over.  Check the view setting on the top menu. Make sure that you are seeing all the messages, not just unread ones.

Make sure that your DBX files are not write protected.  Right click on the file and select Properties. Then uncheck "Read Only" and "System".

If the messages are still missing, one or more of your DBX files may be corrupt.  Here are a couple of programs to repair corrupted DBX files

Sorry for the delay.  It's another employees laptop and he can't let me have it until the weekend.  I will take a look this weekend then update and allocate points.
