I have a database that is logged in from a browser, so I have a Full Text Search option.  When I click the button to search I get the following pop up box

An error has occured in the script on this page

line 38

do you want to continue?

I select yes and a blank page opens

That's a JavaScript error. You wrote validations in JavaScript??
Can you post the code with the reference to $$SearchTemplateDefault? And where is that code called from?

I copied a working version of the $$ViewTemplateDefault over to the database and it seemed to fix the issue.

Nope - My LS skills are poor at best
But you seem to master the quirks Notes has every now and then... I'm so used to trying to repair, I tend to forget that it is sometimes better to scrap what you have and start afresh.
