I am working on web enabling a Filemaker Pro database and have been successful using a combination of Cold Fusion and XML/XSLT.

I am able to query for specific records using differing criteria and have those records display. At this point there are a number of outstanding questions but the one I am trying to solve right now (being fairly new to the fmpdsoresultset xml, xml and xslt in general) is how to display the number of returned record most efficiently.

if i were to request the fmpxmlresult set that number is provided as part of the xml. Unfortunately the fmpdsoresult set is easier to work with for my purposes. I am guessing that there is an xpath way to do this but am not sure what it is or what the syntax might be? something to do with counting the number of fmp:ROW nodes. . ..

Actually I just answered it for myself (yaay): <xsl:value-of select="count(fmp:ROW)"/><br /> the trick is where in the xsl document it falls. it needs to fall where the template is applied before the found set appears -

points does not mean money to us supports, just points for fun; EE is getting the money!
