Got all of the screws out, that i can see.  Need to get to the ac adapter pin either replaced or soldered down.  Is this going to be extremely difficult?

Yes this will be extremely difficult if you don't know what you're doing.  You might be an expert person at soldering but not knowing how to solder the ac adapter pin will be an entirely different experience.

if you are strapped for money AND the pin doesn't work at all you could try it yourself, but there are no guarentees.  The quickest solution would be spending the money on a new motherboard...i assume the warranty is up?
