Use an exchange account with an external account simultaneously in outlook

Im running Exchange Server 2003, and need to use the exchange address with an external address simultaneosly.

My problem right now is that the emails sent to a recipient in my domain, never reach the internet mail, so if the recipient is not connected to the domain, he never receives the email.

What can i do?

i might not be able to understand your question completely but what i understand that you have a recipient which have two addresses one for internal and other is external on the internet and you want to send an email on its internal address and want it to be deliverd on internet address as well.

to do this create a contact and assing it a smtp address (which is external address) and then configure that user's properties to forward emails to that contact and also keep a copy of the message.

to configure forward address go to user's properties and on exchange general tab there is delivery options and select the contact in Forward to box also select the check box saying Deliver messages to both forwarding address and mailbox

Create the external email address (Custom recepeint) and add the same in the user's mailbox delivery options (Forward option).

This is the only option where you can recieve the mail on both the domain address and external address
