DNS configuration problem

How can I do the following task?

(a) Configure your system as the master DNS server for the DNS domain sysadmin.net.au. In
the zone configuration, include at least entries for hosts named 'server1', 'ns', 'mail', and 'www'
that refer to your machine. The DNS entry for server1 must use an A record, and the others (ns,
mail and www) must all use CNAME records.
(b) Change your machine's DNS client configuration so that the machine will use your local DNS
server for DNS queries.

Sounds little like homework.
Why will not You start from reading http://tldp.org/HOWTO/DNS-HOWTO.html All is there.
Resolver (b) is set in /etc/resolv.conf
