Login show no icons, start bar etc.

Hi all, trust you are well.

Running Small Business 2003 Server, Premium Edition. In the last couple of days, when starting/restarting the server, once I login, the server comes up with the usual Applying Settings etc but it never gets to a Start Screen or my Desktop or any such of that. The network and exchange and all of that starts up normally and works, and sometimes using Remote Desktop Connection from one of the other pcs allows me to login.

How do i fix this?

Any suggestions?

System drive: Ample disk space (49gb)

Only weird entry in the Event Log:
Access denied attempting to launch a DCOM Server. The server is:
{0C0A3666-30C9-11D0-8F20-00805F2CD064}
The user is NETWORK SERVICE/NT AUTHORITY, SID=S-1-5-20.

Disable services such as anti-virus, backup software or other third party and restart.

Do you have an APC UPS with PowerChute software installed?  If so, boot into safe mode and uninstall it.  Then you need to use their newer version.

Okay, how about this then:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883268

It's almost like stabbing in the dark when you can't actually get to the darn desktop.
