Hello everyone,
When a new domain user logs on to a pc for the first time his outlook will need to be configured for use.
Is there a way to have this done automatically?

Many Thanks!

YES!  You can get the Resource kit for Office 2003.  You will find a custom installation wizard.  You can specify many settings especially for outlook, you can put in your Exchange site info and create a network installation point.  When you install Office using this installation point on a PC, any new users who logon will automatically get their exchange profiles created.  It works great, I've used this before.

This is very useful for new pc builds, but what about the 50 other pc's we've got that don't have that advantage?

You can use this method for any PC, new or old.  Just drag them into the OU that you created and the software will install.

* This question is still unanswered, please keep it open longer. *

Will this work for office 2000 installations? I'm not completely bought that it will work for office installs already installed.

I'm not familiar with Office 2000, so I'm not sure if i has the same installation administration kit with the install wizard.  But as long as its an MSI package (which office is) it should work.  You would need to create a custom install package to use with the GPO, but its possible.  You can specify in the installation wizard whether or not the package will remove previous versions of the office software, or if it will leave the old version intact and install the new version to a new location.  So yes to both questions.

Thanks
