Will a metalink account give me access to all version patches?

Hello experts,

Those double-glazing-salesman buffoons 'working' at Oracle's UK call centre can't even answer the simplest of questions, so I thought I'd ask those in the know.

We need to get patches for 9iR2 to test our XMLType-based application (unsupported below 9.2.0.3.0, we only have base 9.2.0.1.0). If we purchase a 10g Personal Edition license with support option, will this allow us to access anything within metalink, or just those patches/downloads etc relating to that version?

Thanks in advance,

theskintman

Yes, I understand that.

I'm wondering if I can download any patch, or whether the metalink account is tied to the versions on my license (i.e. specifically 10g PE).

In current verion of metalink, no, your metalink account is not tied to your version. You can download all the patches for previous version.

In May of this year, all the metalink accounts will be moved to a new secure system, which will be based on your email address. In the new system, you will not be able to access the metalink if your CSI is expired. You may be limited to access to what your CSI has included.

Thank you GeoTiger - that's very interesting. I'll go for it and hope!
