Remote Desktop connection between two domains while one is connected through VPN

Is there anyway I can connect through remote desktop to our satellite company who is on there own domain? We have domain1, they have domain2, and they can connect to our domain1 through VPN. It seems logical in theory for domain2 to be connected by way of VPN to our domain then I can remote desktop in. This sure would be beneficial in troubleshooting some of their IT issues.

Yes you should be able to. Using remote desktop over VPN is very common and secure. Have you tried using remotee desktop to connect from your domain to your satellite company? Just be sure that remote connections are allowed on the machine you are trying to connect to.

Hi schumbe1,

this is common, you will need to create a trust between the two domains to allow for authentication but as far as RDC capabilities though then yes you can do it

Terminal server connections don't require any trusting, since the client requests it's own authentiction on the foreign network

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

Thanks everyone for posting. I hope to be trying this today. Basically what I think I will be doing is setting up his computer in Remote Desktop with his full computer name ASSETa He should be connected to VPN at the time of me connecting and all should go okay. Well, he was on the phone while I was trying this and it didn't work with the computer name. It did however work by going to start/run/cmd/ ipconfig /all and getting the VPN connction IP address. Awesome! thanks everyone.

yeah unless the address gets re-registere in DNS and DNS is properly configured you will have a hard time doing the connection by name.
