Web Sharing with SBS 2003 and SharePoint

I have set a shared folder on the server to be accessible through our companyweb SharePoint website on the Web Sharing tab. How do I have it actually show up as a link to the users when they access the SharePoint site remotely?

Thanks.

You can't web share a folder that contains documents.  You need to move the documents into a Sharepoint document library for them to be accessible there.  Documents in Sharepoint are stored in SQL (or MSDE) instead of NTFS folders.

Please see this TechNet article about how to do this:  http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sppt/wss/fsdoclib.mspx

I'll read through the article linked to. However, I don't understand the reason for there to be an option to share a folder on the web if it cannot actually be done. Am I not understanding something?

You can share a folder on the web, but SharePoint is not just "the web" it's a web technology that works with SQL server databases (or MSDE databases).  You really should read up on SharePoint, since it has some wonderful features and is an incredible technology... but it's not just another file structure on the web.

Thanks, TechSoEasy. Sorry I did not get back to the question sooner, but I never received notice from EE that a comment had been posted.
