Copy records from one table to another with triggers firing

I can't seem to find out how to copy rows from one table to another and have the triggers fire. I have tried the do an insert into, but it wants to insert into a new table instead of an existing one. The DTS copy doesn't give the option to do a slow copy or to use the "fire_triggers" option.

Any ideas?  The tables are exactly the same except one has an insert trigger that needs to fire.

    Accepted Solution

DTS uses 'fast load' option by default while loading data. This will not fire any triggers.

If you want to fire triggers, then you should uncheck the 'fast
load' option in the Options tab of the Transformation task properties dialog
box. This will make the triggers fire, but the transfer will be bit slow.

This is where I'm getting tripped up. No option exists for this. Everyone says to uncheck this but where is it? In the transformations area there are two tabs, column mappings and transformations. none have such an option.  this is SQL 2000 w/ enterprise manager.
