I just started receiving these errors. I have tried to look for a answer in: technet/eventid/ and here to no avail.
Any help would be great.
I am having a hardware issue on one of my drives, but I do not think this is the problem. "could be a write issue to that drive" mmmm
Do I need to reload the zone.

The DNS server was unable to open file dns\251.10.in-addr.arpa.dns.temp for write.  Most likely the file is a zone file that is already open.

Make sure to go to Windows\system32\Dns , as this is the location for the DNS integrated Zone, rigt click on the file name as make sure to remove the check mark from the Read only.

Hope This help

Thanks for the response. I have 2 servers. One is the primary win 2003 server. The other is secondary to it. The secondary is the one having the issues. I reloaded both and I am still having this error in event log pop up ever 5 - 10 mins.  I right clicked on both c:\windows\system32\dns   both are checked read only but grayed out. How can I clear the grayed out part to be able to clear it?

THANKS...........

Ok, you have to check the Dns files inside the DNS folder, make sure to remove the tick mark from there only,

Ultimately: We had a stuck bit that needed to be cleared off of a hard drive.

(1) PERFORMED A BACK UP

(2) Solution: reboot 2800 PowerEdge with original disk in drive, perc drivers on hand.
Ran recover options: chkdsk/r.

Replaced failing drive/ rebuilt RAID.

No errors in the last few days……….
