how to restore master db sql 6.5

I'm trying to restore the master database on SQL server6.5. I get and error that say that I have to be on single user mode.  How may I start SQL in single user mode.

or better yet how to restore the master DB in SQL 6.5

    I try runing this comand on sqlservr.exe -m and and it stop here

    launched startup procedure 'sp_sqlregister'

    Here is what you need to do.

    1. Stop MSSQLServer and SQLServerAgent services.
    2. From a command prompt, enter this command:

    sqlservr.exe -m

    "Do not close the command prompt window after executing this command. Now it is enabled for only one connection."

    3. Run Enterprise Manager to restore the master database from the backup.
