How to Show running total value in Report Header Section

We are using Crystal Reports XI. We created a report for the table given below:

SO                    TC                  Q
A                      0,1                  6
A                      0,2                  6
B                      0,3                  3
C                      0,4                  1

We want to get the data from the table:

SO                      TC                    Q
A                      0,3(0,1+0,2)         6
B                      0,3                       3
C                      0,4                       1

So grouped column SO, Added a sum to column TC and added a running total value to column Q.

We tried to use running total again (in group header) we get the data below:

SO                      TC                  Q
A                      0,3                    6
B                      0,3                    3
C                      0,4                   1

The problem is We to see the total value of column Q (10) in as a summary in the report header.

Tried to use "maximum" of running total field but got the message "can't summarize this field).

You can't because the Running Total is caluclated while the report is being printed and the total isn't available when the Report Header is printed.

Since you are combining fields and not summing all the data, I assume the Summary functions return the wrong value.

is there any other way to do it?

You could create a subreport to calculate the value and return it to the main program.

    Accepted Solution

We asked to our IT department to create a "view" from the tables we re using to solve this and it worked.

i could not be able to do it by using a sub-report.

    Anyway, thanx for your answer.
