Access Database Code

Hi all.
I have just split a database but now have problems with the code as follows

Set rstPrice = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset("tmpprice", dbOpenTable)

This is not one of mine so not too familier with it. Errors out with
"runtime error 319
Invalid operation"

can anyone point in right direction please?

    try this change:

    Set rstPrice = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset("Select * from tmprice")
