Outlook 2003 - Autocomplete name list disappearing

We have had several users in our environment recently experience the disappearance of their Autocomplete name lists in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003.  What is a possible cause of this and is there anyway to recover this list back to its previous state? Or will each user have to let it rebuild itself over time?

The autocomplete list is stored in a file called Oulook.nk2 which is in the folder C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook.  It shouldn't just disappear.  If it has, then I'd check the Recycle Bin.  If it's there, then restore it.  If not, then if the user doesn't have a backup the file will have to rebuild itself.

Autocomplete list comes from the nickname file, .NK2, and the contacts list.  The NK2 file may be corrupt. Close Outlook. Find and rename it.  Then when you reopen Outlook.  A new NK2 file will be recreated.  Then you can add new names to the nickname file and Outlook should remember them.
