Back Ground

I would like to create a simple square with a black or red background and a white text.  I would then like to save it as a JPEG.  Is this possible to do in PhotoShop?  If so, will you please walk me through?  I do not have Illustrator.

Thanks,
Lazer

1. create a new layer

2. with the new layer selected, use the marquee tool to fill it in with black or red.

3.  select the text tool and click where you want to start typing your text.

4.  once you are finished go up to file>save for web

5.  select jpg as the type and select the location where you want to save your file.

let me know if you need anything else.

thanks!
