prevent google desktop from indexing network drives
A good chunk of my users are installing google desktop. I don't have a problem with that, but I do have a problem with all the extra work my servers have to go through to accomidate it's indexing of network resources.
Is there a way (policy, reg hack, etc), that I can prevent google desktop (and any other indexing app for that matter) from indexing my network resources?
Thanks!

I'll have to install it and make those exclusions and see if I can push the change to all workstations
thanks

No problems.
Also bearing in mind that the mapped network drive letter may be different (for the same network share) on different workstations.

yea.... I have considered that.
The settings are on your PCs. and are generic network calls, so port blocking will not work properly.
I have been working on other ways, but application gateways are very expensive and need plenty of config and upkeep.
I think your best decision is to have your management help you in enforcing the software policy, Eliminate the application on any user who does not need this to function within the business, and or lock down the PC's for installation of applications.
