Have you used any of system performance monitoring (memory, CPU, I/O, filesystem, etc) tools i.e. HP, BMC, Mercury, etc?   I need to save history data (over 2 or 3 years) for capacity planning purposes.
Any recommendations?

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

As a user of MRTG, what advantages are you seeing?
Do you have any particular reasons for recommending MRTG against HP, BMC, etc?

MRTG is product , others are companies. They do not compare.

As far as I had experiences OpenView NNM and Tivoli NetView - they have 1000-click wizards to get them to gather node info needed.
I acknowledge people willing to pay for workplace entertainment choose those above others.

For HP - it's AIX template is simplistic network counter.
