Go into the users object in ADUC, Exchange advanced tab, then "hide from exchange address list"

Its usually pretty instant, but you will need to wait for replication to take place in a multi server environment.

Make sure that you are looking at the ONLINE address book.  If its the OFFLINE address book, this usually takes 24 hours to circualate, as RUS (recipient updat service) will need to update the offline addres book.

Yoou can try running a manual replication.  But if you have ticked the box as mentioned above, the user address CAN NOT show in the GAL.

Well yes deleting the account will make it go away, but by selecting that box, it will be removed from the GAL.  This is by design, and I use it frequently.

Are you sure you are looking at the GAL and not a contacts list?  Perhaps you could post screen shots?
