Just recently, my backups that were taking 3-4 hours are now taking 24-30 hours. We had a professional tech in here just before this started and he, OF COURSE, says he didn't do anything so I'm left with picking up the pieces. I can't find any reason for this. the size is 32Gig going to a backup server that is running XP Pro SP2 within the office here. I have a linksys vpn router with a linksys 5 port hub. both CPU's are in the router. Any idea here

The error I'm getting in the backup error log is 'Error returned while creating the volume shadow copy:'
The searches I've done say to do tons of starting and stopping of services. The backup is set to verify and I am using NTBackup. Any help you can give me would be GREAT!

it doesn't allow me to 'uncheck' the verify. What is strange if I run it amnually it runs fine. Take 24 hours or more but it come back ok. No, I don't have any special settings to worry about. Thak you so much for responding even though I closed it... thanks!!!

I'll try that but I think the 2003 SBE Server Backup software will only allow  you one backup 'file'. I'll edit that file to not backup all folders that I wanted. I'll change it somehow. Do you think that a certian file or folder is casusing this problem? Kevin

I reduced the size of the backup file and turned off all trend mirco crap and the same thing. Did I not mention that when I run the backup manullay it completes (24hours later) ...if I run it automaticly it fails everytime. Not hinking this will ever work...

24 hours is a ridiculous amount of time... what are the failed errors? look in the advanced tab of scheduled tasks, view log
