Question about Windows 2003 server CAL licenses...

Hello guys...

I just got a dell poweredge 1420sc with windows 2003 standard server w/5 CALS.

But i have 12 workstations in my network.
During the setup it asked how may client so i put 15.
Is that going to blocking out users because i only got the windows 2003 server with 5 CALS??
So far it's ok but i really need to know this.  Just in case only 5 users could access the server i'm in trouble.

And is it same for windows 2003 Small business server cals also??
Do i really really have to buy additional CALS for standard or small business edition for 2003 servers??
If it works i really don't think i have to get it.  But i just want to make sure this not going to blockout or any problems with the server.

I have another job at different location but they will have new server with 2003 small business server with 5 CALS.
but total workstation is 7.  Tell me what i should do guys...

Thanks so much..

Yes, you need appropriate numbers of CALs - this is not optional - this is a legal requirement.  And since we cannot help you violate licensing, it's about the only answer you can expect here.
You definitely have to buy additional licenses depending on how many number of clients you want to connect to the server.
You need 10 more CALs for the Server 2003 Standard client and you need 2 more SBS CALs for your SBS client.

This is not optional if you want to be legal.

The SBS server will not allow unlicensed use so you won't be able to log into the 2 with no CALs.
