Brocade firmware and Java

Just added a 4/16 Brocade switch to an existing 2/16 switch. Fibrechannel functionality works in that I can put a server on one switch and see storage on the other, zones propagate OK but when I go into the web browser from the original switch I cannot launch switch manager for the new switch. Also when connected to the new switch I cannot get into zoning configuration window, get continually prompted for username and password. Already upgraded the management workstation Java to the correct version.

The original switch is still running FabricOS 3.1.1c and I can't upgrade the firmware since it needs a reboot afterwards. New switch is running FabricOS 5.something. Anyone else had this problem and is it fixed by upgrading the original switch (which is fabric principal) to later firmware?

I am assuming that both switches have managed mode enabled if you are trying to configure them through the web panel.  Are you sure that both switches have the same subdomain configured?  Also what kind of IP ranges are you using?

I'm not sure what you mean by subdomain, they have different domain IDs since the fabric would be fragmented if the domain ID was the same. Each can be managed seperately through Java, they're in the same subnet - something like 172.16.1.77 and 172.16.1.84. I didn't disable any management so they must be managed mode. Each can be managed individually so it looks like an authentication passthrough problem.

The first commentor was referring to a network switch, not a fiber brocade switch used in SAN environments.
I still haven't been able to get back to site to try it but I think you're right and it's the browser rather than the switches' firmware so I'll accept your comment assuming it will solve it.
