Connecting to online databases using ado.net

Hi Experts,

I intend to connect to an online database using Ado.NET, within a VB.net application and display the data on a form.

I have never done anything involving ADO.NET and would be grateful for some information/examples/tutorials regarding this.

I dont know what format the databases are yet so any type is fine for now.

Initially the databases will be online and eventually i will be doing some work with offline databases so some info on that aswell would be great if it is disimilar compared to working with online databases.

Cheers,

Tom

Try www.ConnectionStrings.com for some Connect via an IP address solution to remote databases.  They should help or at least give you an idea how to connect.

Thanks for your link to that page. As i have never used ado.net before it is still feels like im jumping in at the deep end. I guess i had better go find a few beginners guides myself. I just thought someone might be able to direct me to one of the better turtorials on this subject.
