New Cisco 851 Install

I'm brand new to Cisco routers so I apologize for this stupid newbie question.  I've installed a dozen consumer routers (buffalo, Linksys wrt54g, etc.) but never a Cisco.  This is a model 851.  I'm trying to configure it with Road Runner using the GUI interface.  I know I don't have the ability (or desire) to program it via the console.  I have the SDM software installed and I can change configurations but I am unable to ping any domain name or external IP address.

This is the only router on the network.  Internet works fine with no router or with a linksys.

I'm a bit overwhelmed by all my options.  Right now I'm just trying to get simple web browsing access.  Eventually I hope to configure it for a VPN access so a user can call into the network via his laptop.  That'll be a different question if I ever get that far.

Any suggestions on what I need to do?

Thanks!

Do dont need to add any static routes. You only need to configure the router to automatically obtain an ip via dhcp. Then the router should automatically have its own DHCP server built in, so you just hook up the computers and go. Believe it or not, its not much hard to configure one of these over a linksys or netgear router.

See the following article on how to configure the cisco 850 series routers:

Unfortunately that covers how to configure it via the command line interface instead of through the SDM software.

Do I need to manually add a route?  If yes, should it be a static or dynamic?  My IP from road runner is dynamic.
