Open with window comes up when double clicking mapped network drives

I have a problem with network share on two Windows 2003 Servers. What is happening is that when you double click on any of the mapped shares in any of the desktop my computer windows a window comes up asking you what you want to open the share with. This is happening from any system you map a share from. The share maps ok w.o error, and you can open applications and use the file open option to navigate through the share to documents, this only happens when you double click to access the share through your my computer window.

Please help....

So before I research this further just so I have a clear understanding of what you are saying:

1) It happens on all the workstations in your environment.
2) You are able to from these same workstations map to other servers (Other than the two you mentioned) and you are able to successfully double click access shares created from them.

Is this correct?

Ok can you tell me if there is any difference in your menu choices when you right click one of the working ones and then one of the ones with a problem.
Hopefully what you will find is that the drive shares that work will have "Open" as the first choice in the right click context and the broken ones will have something different.  Let me know.

Yes...the ones that work have open bolded...

The ones that do not all have Autoplay bolded...

What kinds of GPOs do you have applied on your domains?  Can you give a little more information about the problems server(s) service pack rev.  Any programs installed on these two that is different from other servers..  It is almost like the share is being mistaken as a CD/DVD ROM drive...

fixed it.....This was due to an autorun.inf file in the root of the shares....that file has been removed and all is well now

Didn't my tip that it thought it was a CD/DVD rom drive help you come to that conclusion?

Deserves the points it led the person directly to the root of the problem.

And why?
In my opinion you gave a good but quite vague advice and that is why I left to the closing mod to decide if your objections was granted...
And I really miss to see connection between  autorun.inf  and your comment ( unless you claim that anyone that had said that the author needs to see what runs on the computer and all his files should get points in such situation?... or am I missing something more specific in your comment?)
