    LVL 10

    Accepted Solution

Leadville is nothing more then the old name of the Sun SAN storage driver set.  It used to be called Leadville.  Technically speaking SVM and Leadville are not directly related.  Basically, Leadville allows you to attach your server to SAN based storage systems and access the storage - really not much more.  SVM allows you to provide RAID features across your storage plant whether its SAN or another other type of attached storage excluding NAS storage types.

You setup access to your storage first (be that with Leadville or say its a JBOD DAS device) *then* you setup how you are going to address the storage (RAID 0, RAID 1, etc) with SVM (or VxVM or whatever).
