Start Up

How can I remove some of the programs that automatically start when windows start? I don't see anything on Start - All Programs - Startup. I need help on both XP and Windows 2000.

go to MSCONFIG, START-RUN-type MSCONFIG <enter> then located any programs you recognize that you can turn off. Note your changes as you may need to re-enter them.  Restart your machine

Hi VBdotnet2005,

msconfig only works on xp unless you have imported in.... :-)

start run - regedit - HKLM - software - microsoft - windows - current version - run

thats what msonfig in XP taps into so you delete from there

While MSCONFIG is good, it only works in XP. If you want a complete solution, and one that works in both systems, then try Autoruns from http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Autoruns.html
