OSA.exe Application Error

I have read the other OSA.exe posting but have further questions.

We have a Windows XP SP2 system running Office 97 SP2. The Office software was installed with local admin rights to the computer. When a user who has Power User rights attempts to use any of the Office 97 applications they get the following error message...

OSA.EXE Application Error

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000022). Click on OK to terminate the application.

I have removed Office Startup from the startup folder but that has not helped. The only thing that seems to help get rid of the problem is to give the user local admin rights to the box but we really do not want to do this due to security reasons.

Does anyone have any another suggestions?

Thank you.

    Hi mltets,
you could try the steps in this post

    01. Log in as Administrator
    02. From the Desktop, Double-click on My Computer
    03. Right-click on C:
    04. Click on Properties
    05. Click on the Security tab
    06. Click on Advanced
    07. Check the box that says, "Reset permissions on all child objects & enable propagation of inheritable permissions."
    08. Click on OK
    09. Click on Yes... this begins the resetting of permissions, but will trip on C:\pagefile.sys as it is use.
    10. When you get to this point, just click on Continue and it will complete the operation
    11. Then you're done.  Log out.  When the end user logs in, the Office97 apps launch and perform as expected.
