Microsoft Office Word: No such interface supported error

Yesterday I could send e-mail normally but today I get the error "No such interface supported" when I want to send e-mail in Outlook 2003. The heading of the error box is "Microsoft Office Word".

I use Windows XP Pro and Office 2003 updated with the latest updates. The error only occurs if Outlook is set to use Microsoft OfficeWord 2003 to edit e-mail messages. I can create a new e-mail message from outlook but when I press the Send button I get the "No such interface" error and I cannot send the e-mail.

I "Detect and repaired" Office but the problem is still there. All the other programs seem to work fine.

This is very irritating but in the mean time I have disabled Word as e-mail editor. Any ideas?

The thing with Word is coincidence...Are you using a PST?  How large is it?  I ran into this one this morning with one of my users.  She had a PST that was almost maxed out at 2GB.  I created a new PST moved some files around, compacted each PST and viola.  Problem solved.

Greetings, kobusb !

Outlook and MS Word sometimes do not work together well.  Since you know that using MS Word as editor causes the problem, you can disable MS Word as editor in Outlook and fix the problem.

If you want to keep MS Word as editor in Outlook, try reinstalling MS Word.

Best wishes!

When I click on an e-mail link it tries to open a new mail message with Word as editor and I get the following error:
"Microsoft Word is set to be your e-mail editor. However, Word is unavailable, or is not the same version as Outlook. The Outlook e-mail editor will be used instead." The error window also recommends that I re-install Word but I have to re-install the complete Office 2003 which I did. The problem is still there.
The PST is corrupted and needs to be repaired.  Close the PST and restart Outlook.  Do you still get the error?  If not then run scanpst.exe on the corrupted PST.
When you reinstall Office 2003, did you update it to SP2 and hotfixes?
kobusb, any update?

I sanned the PST with scanpst.exe, it did have some problems which was repaired. The problem that I cannot use Word as mail editor is still there. I do have SP2 installed with all the updates that Microsoft recommends. In the meantime I have disabled Word as editor.
kobusb,

Is the MS Word same version as Outlook?  Did you perform the updates?  Did you reinstall MS Word?

Please read my original question and further comments. The complete Office is version 2003 installed from the same set of CDs, I did reinstall the complete office and Office 2003 and Windows XP Pro is up to date (according to Microsoft update).

I may have found the answer from two sources:
http://forums.computingondemand.com/index.php?s=b5cd78217f76c83a3f48cf31c4b8c46f&showtopic=6871&pid=23206&st=0&#entry23206
and
http://www.msfn.org/board/lofiversion/index.php/t68922.html
I ran Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll and now everything works fine.
None of the MS instructions in http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;906307&spid=2520&sid=694 works. It just messes up your settings and keeps you busy for hours and days. I also could not find an easy way to backup or export my outlook account settings in order to import them again after reverting back to the default Outlook settings.
I hope the problem does not return.
kobusb,

Glad registering OLE32.DLL works for you.  This registration has fixed many Outlook errors.
