Setting up a small home office with W2003 SBS to provide remote file and email services via broadband cable.  Currently have Linksys router off RoadRunner home connection.  What steps do I need to support inbound traffic in a secure fashion and allow the forwarding?

    Accepted Solution

There are some ports that will need to be forwarded on the Linksys router to the server.  See this link for more information about what ports need to what.

You will also need to run the Internet Connection Wizard to specify what services you want to allow to be accessed over the internet.  By theway, do you hjave 1 or 2 NICS in the machine and are you running the Standard or Premium edition of SBS?

Currently one NIC, but am considering adding a second NIC.  W2003 SBS Standard on this system.

Ok, with one NIC and standard you are not running ISA server.  Look at that link and run your Internet Connection Wizard.

Hold on another day.  The server just crashed.   I will respond once I get it back up and perform the tasks.
