XML is the information exchange interface that RDF uses to express it's resources. For example:

<rdf:Description rdf:about="http://www.w3.org/TR/rdf-syntax-grammar">
  <ex:editor>
    <rdf:Description>
      <ex:homePage>
        <rdf:Description rdf:about="http://purl.org/net/dajobe/">
        </rdf:Description>
      </ex:homePage>
    </rdf:Description>
  </ex:editor>
</rdf:Description>

The format of this data is in XML but it uses the structure that is defined by the RDF specification. See the W3C web site for more information: http://www.w3.org/TR/rdf-syntax-grammar/
