ms word to html or RTF possible on linux/unix OS

I got to know if PHP is running on Windows OS then Ms word can be converted to HTML or RTF, but can we do same on linux/unix?

    As far as I know MS Word is not natively available on a *ix platform. But you may well find alternatives. Does StarOffice open the word document and does it allow for some sort of scripting to convert a MS Word to HTML/RTF?
