Timeserver

Hello -

I have a PC based digital surveillance system - the software has an area where you can put in an IP address for a timeserver.  I dont have a timeserver on my network.  Is there anything out on the internet I could point it to?

Thanks

You should be able to use any in the following list that show "open access"
http://ntp.isc.org/bin/view/Servers/StratumOneTimeServers
I use  time.nist.gov  it seems to work well.

If you need to use an IP rather than the name, at a command line enter
nslookup  TheTimeServerName
it will return the IP.
The IP for  time.nist.gov  is 192.43.244.18

Usually your government supplies some Stratum 1 Time servers.

To sync our network we usually use one of the time servers listed here. Be mindfull though, some countries request fees for the use of their stratum 1 servers, in that case do select a stratum 2 wich usually is good enough for most time syncs..

Good luck ;)

dutchclan, there must be 100 time server lists out there. What are the odds we would post the same one, 1 minute apart. Must mean it is a good recommendation.   :-)
Cheers !
