SPEEDING UP VB.NET

I was wondering if anyone knows how to speed up or turn off error checking
in vb.net.  I have a large application and have no errors. but trying to add
new code or create new code takes forever compared to vb6 any hints?
thanks

One way to write faster Applications are by using application blocks:  http://builder.com.com/5100-6386-1050690.html

Also, avoid:
1. Using late-bound values (where every object is of type Object). The application then needs to inspect the object type before calling its methods.
2. Creating too many objects in loops. Although object are easy to create, if you're creating a lot of them, your application can get slow.
3. Using unstructured exception handling (On Error Goto) instead of Try...Catch.
4. Using Try...Catch to handle failure cases instead of checking for a failure before making a call that could fail.
5. Not considering performance until the application comes to a grinding halt. You've got to measure application performance as you develop it, so you can more easily fix performance regressions.

To help you measure application performance, you can use CLR Profiler, a great tool for analyzing and profiling .NET applications. You can download from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=86CE6052-D7F4-4AEB-9B7A-94635BEEBDDA&displaylang=en.
