Core physically unloaded! Error Win2k Stops Responding

I have a Win2k machine that was working great until about 2-3 months ago.

Randomly almost everyday or every few days, it just stops responding to network traffic and is very slow on the local machine.  I have looked into the error logs and it just seems as if the computer just loses its connection, however a quick reboot always fixes it.

In the  WBEMCore.Log file i have the following messages that seem to directly correlate with the times of the crashes:

(Fri Sep 09 18:36:03 2005) : Core physically unloaded!

(Wed May 24 11:30:58 2006) : Core physically unloaded!
(Wed May 24 11:58:56 2006) : CALL CWbemNamespace::CreateInstanceEnum

Everytime It says Core physically unloaded! it seems that computer in a sense "crashes" and requires a manual reboot from the local console.

Anyone have a clue what I can do?

I would like to close this question as it does not need to be discussed any longer.

It seems the problem has just disappeared all on its own.

I do not know if I can just close it without awarding points, admins?

" almost everyday or every few days, it just stops responding to network traffic and is very slow on the local machine. "

this resolved itself?? Hard to believe. Next time follow up sooner on the responses.

What's your deal bro?  I have been analyzing the problem and looking in to possible causes,  Re-Installing Service Pack 4 was not a feasible solution on a live production machine.

One day, the problem disappeared and has not come back to haunt us, we have been running 2-3 weeks strong now without a crash.  I did absolutely nothing to the machine that would cause it to fix itself either.

no deal.

reinstalling sp4 is ok to do on any 2000 machine no matter live or test. How is this NOT feasible.. if your machine is crashing regularly - installing known good files are the solution unless you back up your system and can do better that way. we do this as an organizational solution in a healthcare environment regularly. it saves time and solves the problem 99% of the time.

to me (and probably anyone else that works in IT) it sounds unusual that you would say everday or few days machine is crashing hard. then all of a sudden after posting or beginning research into possible causes .... problem disappears entirely... to me thats hard to believe. whats so hard to understand about that??

I know there wernt any other responses besides mine, but you could still have followed up sooner and posted a status like it seems to be working normally alot sooner. thats all IM saying. thats the way most of the experts around here would feel. most of us dont like abandoned posts. simple.

close it out by going to support and posting a reason to close it with a link to the q
