Beginner Question: ------ Can someone give me some brief idea about load balancing?

1. How to deploy a web app accross multiple server? how they can "work together"/ know each other exist? (brief one)

2. load-balancing = ?? and how to do it?

* I read through several Servlet/JSP tutorial, some mention bout deploying web app on different server and load balancing, but never really explain what they are...

Tks

1: It is called clustering.
You can find an article on clustering/loadbalancing with Tomcat here: http://www.onjava.com/pub/a/onjava/2004/03/31/clustering.html

Clustering/load balancing is normally a feature provided by the server rather than something you explicitly write code for.

so, is there anything that I should taken into consideration when i'm writing my code (JSP/Servlet)?
or i can just write my code and let the server worries about clustering?

my friend

Clustering/load balancing is for balancing the load. This has to be taken care by the server. Not on the programmers end.

You can deploy your code on one or more tahn one machine.

But the configuration has to be made at the server. Not in your code.

I think so this helps you.
