OUt of the office autoreply stuck in categorizer

I have an auto reply message setup on a mail box. When I send a test message to it I never get a responce. If I send an email from the exchange system it gets through to the destination. If I use the message tracking tool I find my reply message. It stops at Message Submitted to Categorizer.

Why would it be able to figure out a message generated by my user account but not one generated by the system.

Thanks,
BK

Are you sending the email from your external account (outside exchange organization) to this mailbox which has Out of office configured?

Do you see any error in Application log at the same time?

Yes, I send the email from gmail.com or any other outside ISP to test the system. Again (at the risk of being annoying) I can send to this domain from a user on the exchange server.

Application log, haven't checked, but I will.

By default, Out of office replies to internet are disabled in Exchange. You need to enable them using the KB given below:-

How to enable out-of-office reply messages to the Internet
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/821899/en-us

Internet Recipients Do Not Receive Out-of-Office Message
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/323665/en-us

Right on the money. First article worked like a charm. Wish I could give you double points :).
