Issues printing PDF's to HP Officejet 5610 All-in-One

Hello Experts,

I have an HP Officejet 5610 All-in-One that works great with everything but PDF's! I had an Epson in the past and for the 2.5 years I had it, never had issues printing these same PDF's. I figured that maybe getting PostScript Drivers as apposed to the PCL Drivers would solve the problem. I can't however find PostScript Drivers for this perticular HP Officejet 5610 All-in-One. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to solve this? By the way, if I tell the Adobe Reader to print the PDF as an "Image" then the 5MB PDF document does successfully print after 45 minutes of spooling. I checked the printer que and the file grew to 1.76GB for a 22 page PDF document when prining it as an "Image" rather then using a Postscript Driver.

Thanks!

Totally insane, this should not happen.  What version of Acrobat?  Use version 6, if you are using 7 scrap it, it is full of bugs.  Uninstall and reinstall version 6.  Ignore requests to upgrade.  Now print, has it changed and works?

WIth windows, should not need postscript drivers to print to windows printers.  Even adobe now go through the windows printing engine interface to print, so there is no reason why Adobe cannot print to a PCL printer, I do it all the time.  First suspect adobe version, then if not fix, maybe reinstall the printer drivers as the standard PCL drivers, not PS for this printer.

This is the strange part, the only thing that changed was the printer, I don't think I'm even on Reader 5 let alone 6 or 7. This has always worked in the recent past with my Epson, and now with the HP it isn't. I don't recall being given an option for PCL or Postscript drivers either! Very strange!

Well first (1) remove the printer driver, and when it asks do you want to delete all the files, say YES.  Then get the CD that came with the printer, and reinstall it.  Now try.  If no good, set a restore point and install acrobat 6 it is free.  Dont go above this, as 7 has big problems.  (2) Also if you have another computer handy, check the default SYSTEM fonts, like sysfont.fon and others see if any are missing on this system compared to the other system>?  (3)  If so, copy all default fonts into the C:\windows\fonts directory.  (4) If this does not work, look for any windows XP upgrades you did recently?  Then uninstall or rollback those upgrades to the previous and turn off autmatic upgrading in My Computer - Properties, Update tab.  Something happened recently to foul this up, and it is likely a windows upgrade as much as anything.

There is a known issue with Reader 5 and this printer on the Mac OS ... could be related ... http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&lang=en&dlc=en&product=441125&docname=bpm30109

Try upgrading to version 6.

This appears to be a compatibility issue between the app and the drivers.  You can try downloading the latest drivers and see if that fixes the problem or you can upgrade the app.  ONE of these should resolve this for you.
