I am looking for a VB script that I can use to query a client to see if a certain window is open and return an exit code based on the results.  I have found these for services and processes but I need one to check windows. Can anyone help?

I don't know of a way to do this with the libraries natively available to VBScript, but it can be done with AutoIt.

    Accepted Solution

Windows Management Instrumentation is the only possible way to do this from VBscript, in fact im *sure* ive seen it done.

However you may find it simpler and quicker to write a miniapplication in to do the job for you... All you need is .net installed and the executable itself so its still fairly portable.

so what did you do in the end then? Theres loads of WMI examples out there, guessing you used that?
