I tried all of your excellent advice. However, it didn't work. But I ran some hardware tests and the HD was bad and has been replaced. The issue has not come up again. Not sure how to distribute points.

When I open Outlook and double click on a message, it opens. if I try to open a second message, the window starts to open, then freezes, and it takes a very long time to open task manager and end the task. Here's the error message in the app log:<br />

Event ID: 1002<br />
Type: Error<br />
Description: Hanging Application OUTLOOK.EXE, version 11.0.8000.0, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000.<br />

Ths same thing happens for 3 different users with 3 different Windows profiles. <br />
