Routing and Auto Rules on an exchange public folder

Hello All,

In a nutshell : I would like to know if it is possible and if so how to, forward any emails put into an exchange public folder to an external mailbox/email address.

Ive seen a load of things going on about exchange routing but nothing specific.

You can obviously do that sort of thing with an outlook rule but the would not be fitting. It needs to be constantly running from the exchange server.

Im sure this is possible.

Any help would be very very appreciated.

Yes it's possible.  Firstly, create a mail enabled contact in AD Users and computers with the external address.

In outlook, pull up the properties ofthe public folder and goto the 3rd tab (Administration.)  Click on the "Folder Assistant" button and you will open a new box where you can place rules like you can for a mailbox.  Setup a rule to forward all mails to that contact.  In the rule setup do not specify a sender or recipient, just check the "Forward" box in the bottom left of the box and then select the contact just to the right of it.

That's it your done :)
