Studio 10.1 includes the following fixes and enhancements from Studio 10.0

* Solved multiple problems, including problems with installation using a different path than default
* Performance and stability:
* Reduced application launch time
* Improved memory management
* Improved editing and preview performance

What I think that means is if you own Pinnacle Studio 10, you can download the patch and it will fix the installation problem:

Did you tried Pinnacle patches and upgrades available at
There are also a forum section.

About the problems, I disagree that would be a Pinnacle deficiency, as that products were developed before Windows xP and the infinite sequence of correction packs from Microsoft. BTW, take a look at drivers for the graphics card (at both Microsoft and card vendor) and to DirectX upgrading. The problem can be a result of incompatibility of device drivers with Studio. Are you using also the Pinnacle capture card?

Hope you find the corrections at Pinnacle support site or elsewhere, because those Studio 9 and 10 are really good products.

Hello, mrichmon,

I understand that both comments had right approaches to the described situation and pointed to right direction. Thus the points are deserved.

An important suspect, of course, is Windows environment (settings, patches, installation, upgrades, etc.). A hardware defect is also a suspect. Unfortunately the author didn't gave us a feedback.

As I have a Pinnacle 10 and it works fine, I can garantee the excellence of such product by my own...
