Purge Mail box without deleting it.

Is there a way to completely dump the contents of a mailbox without deleting it? We are setting up a two week training session for outlook 2003 using exchange 2003. There will be two training sessions each day. One in the morning and one in the afternoon. I want to be able to go in after the class is done and remove the contents of the mailbox's so that the next user has a fresh mailbox to start with.

Just have a mail client continually open, that's the easiest way.

Do you mean to use a pst file instead of a mailbox?

I think part of the training involves OWA. So I would prefer to find a way to continue using the mailbox.

sort of..
If you have Outlook continously open, then it is just a matter of deleting the inbox messages. highlight - select all, DEL, done in 5 seconds.  You don't have to worry about going into exchange and monkeying around with the account.

In 5 seconds, your mailbox will be ready.  Make sure you configure Outlook so that messages are removed from server

You may be able to use exmerge to export the mail, removing it from the server.

However, I tend to agree with irwin...

Delete the folders created in class.
Delete the items in the Inbox (CTRL-A, delete)
Delete the items in the calendar
Delete the items in Sent Items
Empty the Recycle Bin

Make that...empty the Deleted Items folder

You can create two Mailboxes Morning and Afternoon....ask the users to use the same. You may keep the contents or delete them.

I would create two folders Morning and Afternoon in Outlook. Ask users in Morning batch to put emails in Morning folder and Afternoon batch in Afternoon folder.
Also, I would use Outlook in Cache Mode.
You do not have to delete anything... information that you require would be in both Exchange and Outlook...you can also use OWA....

I would use Exmerge.
It is normally used to move mail, but can be used to export out all the mailbox content to a set of PST files that you then delete.

Thanks for all the input! I am going to go through your ideas and try them today and tomorrow. Depending on time. I will let you know how it works.
