Netgear FVG318

Hello we've purcahsed a netgear fvg318, it says on the box supports 8 remote offices or traveling users via vpn. So i've assumed this meant that it comes with the ProSafe VPN Software. However, I cannot find it anywhere. I've been unable to download it from netgear's site. Does this router require setting up VPN access via windows networking, or where can I get the prosafe vpn client?

have, it says, "to download -> goto www.netgear.com/go/blah blah/" on their site it makes no mention of how to download the prosafe vpn client.
The url the manual refers you to is: http://www.netgear.com/products/details/VPN01L_VPN05L.php

The prosafe is a separate product and the FVG318 is made to be used with this software

No that is the SNMP managment tool provided by netgear. This is NOT what I am intrested in.

I am looking for the ProSafe VPN Client.

Irwin has already given you the answer, it is a separate product you will have to purchase

Irwin has provided me with a link to the SNMP managment tool, not what I am intrested in.

Perhaps you guys should read the article in the link :) It has nothing to do with the VPN software I'm intrested in.

his statement of it being a separate product still suffices though, the link you provided proves it originally

I disagree, he searched the netgear site for anything that had to do with the router model I mentioned.
He then posted a link to an irrelevant article without reading it.

His post is as follows:
 "The prosafe is a separate product and the FVG318 is made to be used with this software..."

Where "This Software" was a completely irrelvant software package. Now, the FVG318 should be already licensed for the Prosafe _VPN_ software. This is what I'm inquring about.

My Deletion Request/Refund still stands.

@BrianGEFF719...why is the question being deleted?  It has already been started and if I had NOT provided you the correct answer, then it is appropriate to reply with FEEDBACK.  Brian, you yourself answer questions here at EE, so let me refer you to this;

You should either provide a self solve solution before yanking it or some other imperical reason why we should NOT continue.  At the very least get other Experts in here.  I comment on over 1000 questions a month, most times I get it on the first crack.  Sometimes it takes several attempts, OR it sparks other experts to offer their insight.

Fair Enough. Let me provide more details.
I own a FVG318 as I've mentioned, it _should_ be licensed for the ProSafe VPN Client provided by Netgear. I've got no problem accepting an answer that is 'the prosafe vpn client is a seperate product', if that is the case. I need someone to tell me with 100% certainty that this is the case, or otherwise tell me how I can go about downloading it.

Ok.. after further reading...Considering the stock purchase of just the FVG318 router, does NOT include the VPN software. Unless you specifically got a package marked that the VPN client was included, you will have to purchase the VPN clients separately.

1 & 5 user client licenses are available here;
http://www.netgear.com/products/prod_buy_VPN.php

This link explains the functionality of the ProSafe solution;
http://www.netgear.com/business/prosafe.php

Your FVG318 Product title "ProSafeā„¢ 802.11g Wireless VPN Firewall 8", is a marketing tool to describe that it "CAN" support up to 8 simultaneous IPSec VPN tunnels.  BUT you have to get the software separately.  If the cost of your purchased router falls within these prices, it's a sure bet that you DON'T have 8 client VPN licenses.
http://netgear.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php?vcode=NGI&partnum=FVG318

What to do now, is choose from one of the following options

1 Client
http://netgear.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php?vcode=NGI&partnum=VPN01L

5 Client
http://netgear.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php?vcode=NGI&partnum=VPN05L

...and there you go...that's the solution.

Ok, Thank You.

I'm going to open another question to address options other than paying for the ProSafe VPN, Such as windows networking VPN support.
