About the menu, note that in the right click menu there is no "Delete" choice. I am referring to the main "Edit" menu, where my menu shows:
Undo
Redo
-----
Cut
Copy
Paste
Delete
----
and some more...
If it's not there, you may have a customized version of the menu. Go to "Tools", "Customize", choose "Category": "Edit". In the second line of symbols, you will see a red "cross" or "X" (can't think of a better description). Drag this from here onto the "Edit" menu and place it on that menu. Close the "Customize" dialog and you should now have "Delete" as an option in the "Edit" menu.
