Hi,

I want to write an email client in java. It should be able to send and receive mails from GMail and Rediff accounts. How can I configure that. What is the value of HOST address and port for Rediff and Gmail.

GMail supports the POP3 and SMTP, but you won't have any the of the GMail style features. THere is an article from Google that explains how to setup SMTP and POP3 using your GMail account if you go to the help section. There also exists an API for using GMail from Java called g4j (http://g4j.sourceforge.net/) and it's open source.

You can also use a mail API that utilizes POP3 and SMTP with Sun's java mail API (which may be part of the defualt SDK), information on that is avaiblae here: http://java.sun.com/products/javamail/
